Client Logic

Some days I question the very roots of logical reasoning. It is said that if everybody is not normal, then there is no such thing as being normal. Ergo, the very definition of normal is based on an average of the sum of the behaviour of all people. Thus people define what is normal, people do not fall into a category we created called normal.

So if a client tells me this:

You know, that's why I said right in the beginning, I said: Tell me what I am not going to get. And everyone said "Ah you can't do it like that, I've got caught again, you've got to spec it". Now, I am in such a quandry now I don't know what I am getting.

I am at a loss of words. Since when did writing a business specification detailing exactly WHAT YOU WILL GET cause you to not know what you are getting? And instead, it is reasoned that a specification of WHAT YOU WILL NOT GET would tell you exactly what you will get?

Is the world mad or just me?
